- The boy ran barefoot through the daisy-flecked grass, his eyes gleaming like molten honey beneath the final rays of sunlight. He danced between the flowers, trampling the fire ants beneath the pads of his feet. Like an unhinged god, thrown down from the sky.

- We snuck out that evening, bored with the small talk adults were so good at starting. Lept into the moonlit pool, no fear of the snakes which might be waiting. Clothes drenched, sticking to our dainty little bodies, we laughed and gurgled in the dark chlorine-infused waters. Splashing and swimming beneath the cloudy skies.
